While grocery shopping on Saturday, I saw strawberries on sale for $1.07 for the second week in a row!! Why they are cheaper now than when they are in season, I don’t know?? But I’m not complaining. I jumped on this awesome deal and bought four packs and made freezer jam last night.
I not only love the taste of this stuff, but it is super easy to make and it saves me money! All there is to it is a bit of slicing, mashing, and mixing! First, you hull the strawberries and cut them up. Then you crush them with a potato masher. After combining some sugar and pectin, you mix in the strawberries and it is ready to be poured into jars. That simple! And it costs about half as much as it would to buy the ready made stuff that doesn’t taste as good.
I am now stocked up for daily PB & J’s this winter.
