Can you still smell last week’s dinner in your crockpot, even though you washed it out several days ago? Please tell me I’m not the only one with this problem. Maybe I just make it more often than other dishes, but my slow cooker seems to smell like cream cheese chicken more often than not. As much as I love the stuff, I don’t particularly enjoy smelling it each time I get my crockpot out!
Luckily I recently discovered a solution. After using the crockpot to cook a roast the other day, I did the dishes, washing it as usual. And as usual, I could still smell our dinner afterwards. So I decided to try soaking it with hot water and baking soda. The results were great – no trace of roast left!
Tip: To deodorize your crockpot, fill it with hot water and add 1/3 cup baking soda. Let stand for 6-8 hours then dump it. Wash with soap and water, then rinse. If your lid stinks too, use the same solution and let it soak in the sink.

Have you tried crockpot liners? They’re these plastic bag things that you put in the pot before you start cooking. Once everything is done and cool you pull it out and throw it away.
Personally, the cost is worth not having to scrub it each time!
No, I have not heard of those! What a great idea though. I will definitely be checking for them next time I go shopping :) Thanks!
What about if you turn in on high with the baking soda, wouldn’t the vapors get to the lid also? Ilove this idea.
