Tip #26: Make Your Curling Iron Look New Again

Hello friends!  I’ve got a good tip for all you gals who use a curling iron, but first let’s talk hair. Thanks to this video tutorial by Kate from The Small Things Blog, mine hasn’t seen a straightener in weeks!  I whipped out my old curling iron soon after I watched the video and my hair will never be the same! Since this technique doesn’t take nearly as long as my self-taught way and I like it so much better, I have been curling my hair pretty much everyday.  This morning when I finished, I decided it was about time I cleaned off all the gunky residue that accumulated from the days I used to coat my hair in mousse and hairspray before curling it!

Check out the before:

And after:

To remove hairspray buildup from your curling iron, turn it on for between 30 seconds and 1 minute (just long enough to get it warm), then scrub it with a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol. Repeat as necessary. Finish by wiping with a soft cloth.
