Yearly Fridge Maintenance

Today I knocked out one of my yearly cleaning tasks and it only took about 5 minutes (that is-after I finally figured out that I needed to open the fridge doors in order to pull the grill off, haha!).

You should do this at least once a year, twice a year or more if you have shedding pets.  When the coils are caked with dust and dirt, they can’t efficiently cool and condense the refrigerant.  This results in making the compressor work harder and longer and it increases the amount of energy used as well as shortens the life of your fridge.  You can find the condenser coils on the bottom of your fridge or they might be on the back.  Simply pull off the grill and vacuum off dust!

3 years of built up dust
Sucked it right up.
What a difference!
Run a rag in between the openings of the grill, snap it back on and you’re good for another year!
