8 Awesome Cleaning Solutions for your Kitchen

You may have noticed a few changes this past week to the blog design as well as facebook, if you follow me there.  I am in the process of cleaning up and revamping some things (more improvements to come)!

Meanwhile, here is a recap of the kitchen cleaning solutions that I’ve shared so far.  Links to each post are above the pictures if you need more details!

Fill your sink with water and add 1 cup of vinegar.  Let glasses soak for 15-20 minutes.
Scrub clean and then dry with a soft cloth.
Mix 1 Tbsp of Cream of Tarter with a few drops of water.  Rub the milk-like solution onto
appliance.  Scrub with a sponge and wipe clean with a damp paper towel.
Fill a microwave safe bowl 1/2 full of water.  Squeeze a whole lemon into water and microwave for 5 minutes.  Let sit for 1-2 minutes with door closed.  Carefully remove the bowl as well as the glass turn tray.  Wipe microwave clean – everything should lift easily!  Wash turn tray in warm soapy water and return to microwave.
Remove the grill (located either on the bottom of the fridge or back) and vacuum up the dust and dirt.  Wipe grill clean and replace.
Take a magic eraser to it!  Buff with a microfiber cloth.  Follow the link for the amazing after pictures!

#6 : Get Rid of Faucet Gunk

Soak regularly in vinegar (use a baggy fastened with a rubber band if it doesn’t pull out) for about an hour to keep it nice and clean!

#7 : 2 Ways to Clean the Inside of Your Oven

Use the self-cleaning option or mix 1/2 cup baking soda, 2 T water, and 1 t liquid castille soap.  Apply paste to surface of oven and allow to sit overnight.  In the morning spray with water and scrub, scrub, scrub!

#8 : Speed Clean Your Blender

Fill blender 3/4 with water and a squirt of dish soap.  Run for 20-30 seconds, then rinse and dry!

As always, thanks for reading!

Great tips. I am always on the look-out for other “green” cleaning tips. Vinegar is such a all-purpose cleaning solution.

Sorry it took me so long to respond! This is a recipe found in Simply Clean, an e-book you can purchase at frugallysustainable.com:

1/2 C Isopropy Rubbing Alcohol 70%
2 C water
1/2 teaspoon liquid castile soap
3 drops essential oil of choice

Combine all ingredients into a spray bottle and shake. Spray onto granite countertops and wipe clean with soft cloth. Solution will store indefinitely.
