I think I have found a favorite spread! Crockpot apple butter added the perfect amount of sweetness to my fluffy, flaky and buttery homemade biscuits tonight. The time and effort it took to prepare the apples was well worth this savory topping. I will definitely be making it again.
Crockpot Apple Butter
1 Dozen Apples (I used Red Delicious)
1/4 C Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Allspice
1/2 C Water
Peel, core, and chop apples. Unless you can peel apples like Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle, you may want to invest in an apple peeler/slicer/corer! In a large bowl, toss apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and allspice. Place in crockpot with water and cook on low overnight. Increase to high in the morning and let cook for additional 3 hours, stirring every now and then. Turn heat off and let cool for an hour. Blend to make smooth.
