Whether we listen to it on the radio as we travel, watch it on TV while snuggled cozy in our jammies, or read it in the Ensign afterwards, General Conference is something our family looks forward to each Fall (and Spring!). It’s a weekend of relaxation and spiritual upliftment. If you’re not an LDS member, I invite you to consider watching a talk or two, if merely just for the cultural experience!
I was inspired by Sister Ann M. Dibb’s message in the first session yesterday about knowing the gospel, living it, and loving it. She talked about being able to confidently declare your beliefs – something I tend to shy away from. So I decided I’d break out of my shell a bit today and declare as she did.
I am a Mormon. I grew up in an active LDS family and was baptized at age 8.
I know it. I’ve gained a personal testimony through study and prayer that Joseph Smith saw Jesus Christ and God the Father in a grove of trees in 1820. He restored the gospel to the earth through the power of the priesthood. It’s true, folks.
I live it. And I love it! The Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has given my life direction and meaning. I would be lost without it!
