Meet Calvin Jon!

It’s high time I properly announce the arrival of this little dude, seeing it’s been nearly a month since he joined us! After enduring mild labor pains the morning and afternoon of April the 3rd, they turned not so mild in the evening! As contractions got closer and closer together and grew harder and more painful we decided it was time to hit the road for the hospital. Thankfully it’s a mere few miles away. Arriving there sometime around 1:30 am, I was checked to make sure this was the real thing. Sure enough, it was! I was dilated to a 6 and having some pretty painful contractions. They called the doctor as well as the anesthesiologist and moved me into a spacious delivery room. It seemed to take forever for the anesthesiologist to arrive! I was starting to fear he wouldn’t make it in time. Contractions were getting REALLY bad! But alas he appeared and worked his magic. I was checked right after getting the epidural and was at a 9! Not long after, the doctor came and I was ready to start pushing! A few minutes of that and out he came.
Such a different experience than giving birth for the first time! It was a much, much faster and easier delivery! So much easier, that I think I could want to do it again! If only these first few months weren’t so physically draining.
But even so, somehow despite lack of sleep, soreness, endless poopy diapers, mounds of laundry, and all the other difficult aspects of caring for a completely dependent and helpless baby, my heart is overflowing with love for the little guy!
And I can’t seem to get enough of him!
